Vitesse is champion of the KPN eDivisie season 2022-’23 and is thus crowned Dutch Champion EA Sports FIFA for the second year in a row. Vitesse defeated AFC Ajax 5-1 in the final over two matches. In addition to the championship, the Arnhemmers also add € 20,000 in prize money. The remaining €20,000 in prize money will be shared among the other seven finalists.
The road to the final
For a long time it seemed that Vitesse would have to end the battle for the championship early in the quarterfinals with FC Groningen. Extra time resulted in a 7-5 final score, after which they met Excelsior in the semi-finals. Manuel Bachoore and Damian Sitaram secured the final by putting Excelsior Rotterdam aside 4-3 over two matches.
Individual awards
Four awards were presented during the KPN eDivisie Finals. The KPN Goal of the Season award went to Ali Riza Aygün (PSV). Levi de Weerd (Ajax) was crowned KPN eDivisie Talent of the Season by the KPN eDivisie fans. Manuel Bachoore (Vitesse) even won two awards: the PlayStation Assist of the Season and the KPN eDivisie Top Scorer award.
