Singapore Airlines unveils SilverCris Lounge at IGI

Singapore Airlines (SIA), which has 13 SilverCris lounges, has opened its new outlet in India.

The airline has launched its new ‘Oasis of Luxury’ for premium customers traveling from Terminal 3 at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The lounge is designed to be a welcoming haven for the airline’s First and Business Class passengers as well as PPS Club, ChrisFlyer Elite Gold and Star Alliance Gold members. The airline invested 20 million Singapore dollars in its premium lounge.

“We chose Delhi as it is one of India’s busiest markets, with two flights a day to Singapore…offering customers an inviting place to relax, we hope to enhance their travel experience even before they board their flight,” said Tan. Senior Vice President (Products and Services) of P Tech, Airlines.

Hot meals, light snacks and beverages are available for customers as well as the latest entertainment. The business center has Internet access terminals with complimentary wireless broadband available throughout the 80-seater lounge.

SIA recently signed a contract worth around US$400 million with Panasonic Avionics for advanced in-flight entertainment and communication systems for more than 40 new aircraft on firm orders with Airbus and Boeing.

“SIA has always been at the forefront of providing the best in-flight entertainment to our customers but we must constantly innovate to stay ahead of the competition. The agreement with Panasonic Avionics will help us do just that,” Tech said.

Singapore Airlines, which started operations in India in 1970, and its regional arm SilkAir currently operate 85 weekly flights from 10 cities in India. SilkAir will launch direct flights between Singapore and Visakhapatnam on October 28, subject to regulatory approval.

The airline plans to operate more flights on the Mumbai and Delhi routes from October.
